Cecilia Garcia-Barnard's Biography

Born and raised in South London to Filipina and Sri Lankan Parents, Cecilia would get lost in books and stories as a child and grow up wanting to be a story teller. After training as an Actor at the London School of Dramatic Art, she went on to be represented by Hebden Bridge Actor’s Co-operative Agency, North of Watford. Leaving London for Manchester, then Manchester for Shanghai, China then back to London via Italy: Cecilia loves travelling.

A love of travelling and seeing different art forms from all over the world, the native dances of the Philippines, the Shadow Puppetry of China, the Opera of Italy. Cecilia is always trying to incorporate mixed forms of performance into her work and honouring that practice of collaboration into community performances. As a Facilitator, she believe in kindness and trauma informed practice, creating a safe space for people to communicate and express their truth in whatever way that might be, through theatre, song or movement, non verbally or visually. Cecilia’s motto is always: come as you are, just come along and play!

After spending her 20s performing and facilitating around the world, Cecilia returned to the UK and to studying. Graduating with a First from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama with a B.A in Drama, Applied Theatre and Education. Now she works as a Freelance Creative Facilitator, Performance Maker and Educator, with over 16 years experience and based in Central London.
